Down City Band Group Shot On Steps With White SunglassesMUSIC IN MIDDLETOWN SERIES IS READY TO LAUNCH

MIDDLETOWN, RI (JUNE 17, 2026) – If you like live music, Middletown is the place to be this summer.

On Wednesday, July 1, the America 250 Committee hosts a big birthday bash for our country from 6-9:15 pm at Second Beach, 315 Sachuest Point Road. The family friendly event will feature a free show by the Down City Band, food trucks and fireworks sponsored by BankNewport.

It’s the highlight event of the volunteer group’s efforts to mark America’s 250th with fun and history. In case of bad weather, the rain date for the event is July 6.

The popular and successful Summer 2026 Music In Middletown Series opens Monday, July 6 from 6-8 pm with folk by Princess June at Paradise Valley Park, 19 Prospect Ave.

The cozy community park will host free shows each Monday at 6 pm in July — weather permitting — before shows shift to Mondays at Second Beach in August with BarFly on Aug. 3 from 6-9 pm.

“We’re really excited about this year’s list of shows,” said Will Cronin, who oversees the Middletown’s beaches and parks. “We’ve gotten excellent feedback about the series in the past and each of these bands come highly recommended.”

Looking to make our community an even better place to live, work and play, Middletown launched the concert series at the beach in 2019.

The music series expanded in 2023 to Paradise Valley Park, where guests are treated to more intimate shows, food trucks and games.

Weather permitting, this year’s Monday night shows are as follows:

  • July 1 at 6 pm from Second Beach — America 250 Concert with the Down City Band, food trucks and, fireworks by BankNewport

Cronin reminded everyone that each of the shows are alcohol and drug free events that emphasize a family friendly atmosphere.

“In the past, each of the concerts has been really well attended and with this year’s lineup, this should be no different,” Cronin said. “These shows are one of the touchstones of our summer here in Middletown and we hope they’re memorable for everyone who goes.”
